Our psychiatry residents are the heart of Tufts Medical Center’s training program. They bring diverse backgrounds, strong dedication, and a passion for learning and compassionate care. Throughout their training, they receive expert mentorship, hands-on experience across multiple specialties, and opportunities to grow as clinicians, educators and leaders. We are proud to support their journey toward becoming skilled psychiatrists ready to meet the evolving needs of mental healthcare.

About me
Biography

I am from central MA. I studied Neuroscience and Behavior in college where I also swam competitively and had a radio show. I worked as an EMT for 3 years in MA while I completed my medical school requirements. I moved to Maine for medical school but completed my clinical rotations largely in MA. Tufts was appealing due to the community feel in an academic setting, well-rounded curriculum, and collegial environment. I am interested in CL, geriatric, and addiction psychiatry. Outside of work, I enjoy comedy, board games, puzzles, plants, and thrifting.

About me
Biography

I was looking for a change of scenery, so I left Las Vegas and ended up practically as far East as I could go for residency. I chose Tufts because I was looking for a program with a smaller class size that has an emphasis on serving its culturally diverse community. I love Boston because it has everything you would expect in a large city like New York, but on a smaller scale. I enjoy nature and easily can spend hours reading or watching people at the Public Garden, Esplanade, or beach. In my free time, I like to try out new recipes, watch stand-up comedy/improv, or travel. It’s a goal of mine to take a mini backpacking trip to Asia during residency!

About me
Biography

I was born in Portland, Oregon but spent some time in various parts of China throughout my childhood. I then attended college at Lawrence University in Wisconsin, where I received my B.A. in biochemistry. Afterwards, I completed medical school at Chicago Medical School and then matched here at Tufts Medicine. I have enjoyed migrating from the west coast to the east coast and meeting new people/trying new foods. For fun, I like to travel, cross stich, play with my guinea pigs, and take walks.

About me
Biography

Coming to the U.S. as an international medical graduate gave me a unique perspective—one not shaped by the cultural and racial dynamics that often influence how people engage with the healthcare system. Standing outside these frameworks has allowed me to approach patients and teams without preset assumptions, guided instead by observation, empathy, and curiosity. This perspective has helped me recognize underserved needs, navigate cultural nuances with sensitivity, and advocate for those whose voices are often overlooked. That’s why I’ve found myself increasingly drawn to Consultation-Liaison psychiatry—not only for its clinical and intellectual richness, but also as a platform to do what I value most in medicine: working within dynamic, interdisciplinary teams; addressing disparities and structural inequities; and stepping into leadership roles that drive meaningful, system-level change.

What made you switch from surgery to psychiatry?

I get this question all the time. I realized I wasn’t drawn to the scalpel—I was drawn to the exploration, the pursuit of relieving distress in caring for the most delicate and deeply human aspects of a person. One of my senior psychoanalyst attendings at Tufts Medicine once said, “Surgery and psychiatry are more alike than people think—both are invasive, just in different ways.” Had I understood the weight of that similarity sooner, I might not have mistaken the tool for the calling. But sometimes, you have to take the long way to find the right door—and know it was always yours to open.

About me
Biography

I was born in Singapore but grew up in the Northern Virginia area. After completing military service in Singapore, I studied philosophy at the University of Rochester where I stayed to do stroke research for a year. I attended medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD where I spent a year pursuing neuropathic pain research. I'm very excited to be at Tufts for our patient population and my amazing co-residents. When not in the hospital I love to travel, eat, write, and explore Boston with my wife.

About me
Biography

I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I went to Haverford College near Philadelphia where I majored in Psychology and Neuroscience. After spending a gap year doing women's health research in Puerto Rico, I went to Bryn Mawr Post-Bacc program and then to University of Rochester School of Medicine in Upstate NY. I have always had an interest in Psychology since high school and I was reassured of my passion during my Psychiatry electives in medical school. Some of my interests in psychiatry include: psychotherapy, working with Latinx community and LGBTQ+ youth. I am happy to live in Boston and attend Tufts, which has a welcoming and supportive community as well as diverse patient population. My favorite thing about Boston is how walkable it is! I spend a lot of my free time exploring Boston with friends and my dog Coco. Other hobbies of mine, in addition to being a dog mom, are: foodie, live music, hiking, day trips/traveling, plant mom, jogging.
