Psychiatry residents training for mental healthcare at Tufts Medical Center

Our psychiatry residents are the heart of Tufts Medical Center’s training program. They bring diverse backgrounds, strong dedication, and a passion for learning and compassionate care. Throughout their training, they receive expert mentorship, hands-on experience across multiple specialties, and opportunities to grow as clinicians, educators and leaders. We are proud to support their journey toward becoming skilled psychiatrists ready to meet the evolving needs of mental healthcare.

About me
Biography

I was born in Sofia, Bulgaria and moved to Florida at a young age, bouncing between the US and Bulgaria until settling in the metro area of Atlanta, GA when I was around 4. Growing up in such a diverse environment, I always knew I wanted to live and work in a similarly diverse area. I attended the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), where I earned my BSEd in Exercise and Sport Science before moving on to the University of Central Florida for medical school. Throughout medical school, I was guided by my desire to work with underserved and diverse communities, which ultimately led me to discover psychiatry during my third year. I loved the advocacy work and the opportunity to serve diverse patient populations in the field. I’m thrilled to have matched at Tufts Medicine, where I relocated with my husband, cat, and plants for the next chapter in my career.

Career Interests

In the long term, I’d love to integrate my interests in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. I also aspire to continue advocating for mental health access, particularly in underserved areas, and contribute to initiatives that reduce the stigma surrounding mental health care.

Clinical Interests

Essentially everything right now, but I’m especially enjoying C-L!

Hobbies

In my free time, I enjoy going on walks and runs, exploring the food scene around Boston, and snuggling up at home with a good Netflix series.

What motivates you in your medical career?

My passion for working with underserved and diverse communities has always been at the core of my career motivation. Psychiatry, in particular, allows me to advocate for and support populations that are often marginalized. I’m driven by the ability to help patients navigate mental health challenges and improve their overall well-being, especially in settings where resources are limited.

How do you balance your professional and personal life?

I prioritize finding small moments to recharge, whether that’s taking walks around the city or finding trails, exercising, discovering new local restaurants, or simply spending quiet time at home. Having a supportive partner, family, and a couple of pets definitely helps create a balance between the demanding nature of residency and my personal well-being.

I am interested in addiction psychiatry and LGBTQ+ mental health. I was so excited to match at Tufts Medicine both for the diverse and undeserved patient population and for the amazing people I met during my interviews. Outside of work I enjoy finding new parks to take my dogs, listening to audiobooks and traveling.

Biography

I am from central MA. I studied Neuroscience and Behavior in college where I also swam competitively and had a radio show. I worked as an EMT for 3 years in MA while I completed my medical school requirements. I moved to Maine for medical school but completed my clinical rotations largely in MA. Tufts was appealing due to the community feel in an academic setting, well-rounded curriculum, and collegial environment. I am interested in CL, geriatric, and addiction psychiatry. Outside of work, I enjoy comedy, board games, puzzles, plants, and thrifting.
