1-year accredited hematopathology fellowship with clinical lab experience

The ACGME-accredited hematopathology fellowship at Tufts Medical Center offers broad, in-depth training across clinical hematology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, immunopathology, coagulation and laboratory medicine.

This one-year fellowship prepares fellows to work independently as primary diagnosticians and consultants in all areas of hematopathology and clinical laboratory hematology. Fellows develop skills to practice in academic centers, community hospitals, commercial labs or pursue further subspecialty training.

Tufts Medical Center provides a rich variety of cases supported by a state-of-the-art hematology laboratory that performs about one million tests annually. Fellows gain hands-on experience with up to 800 bone marrow cases and around 300 additional consultation cases each year.

  • Graduated responsibility for case sign-out and active involvement in conferences, tumor boards and resident education
  • Personalized training plans tailored to meet individual educational goals
  • Opportunities to participate in clinical and translational research alongside other clinical teams

Preparation and support for the American Board of Pathology Hematopathology subspecialty exam is part of the fellowship.

The Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (PAG) Fellowship Program at Tufts Medical Center in Boston is designed to provide additional multidisciplinary experience and training in the medical and surgical subspecialty of PAG. This is a non-accredited fellowship, two-year fellowship.

High-risk, high-impact: Become a leader in MFM at Tufts Medical Center

At Tufts Medical Center, we believe Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists should be more than excellent clinicians. They should also be educators, advocates and innovators who shape the future of maternal and fetal health. Our fellowship provides a thorough, well-rounded education that combines practical training with research, teaching and leadership opportunities.

Our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship is designed to train the next generation of leaders in high-risk obstetrics. We teach fellows how to give great, evidence-based care. They also become confident teachers, advocates for health equity and leaders in research and quality improvement.

Why choose Tufts Medical Center for MFM training:

  • High-volume, high-acuity experience: Care for a diverse patient population, including more than 500 maternal transfers each year, with extensive exposure to obstetric complications and critical care.
  • Advanced ultrasound and procedures: Learn how to obtain, interpret and counsel about ultrasound findings. You'll also learn about amniocentesis, CVS and fetal blood sampling. Additional opportunities in fetal interventions are available through a collaboration with Boston Children’s Hospital.
  • Research and scholarship: Receive financial and statistical support for basic, clinical or translational research with mentorship to develop your own clinical or academic niche.
  • Self-determination with support: Start as a junior faculty member early. You'll be independent in the continuity clinic, Labor & Delivery and the Perinatal Diagnostic Center, all in a supportive learning environment.
  • Career-ready training: Graduates leave prepared to run ultrasound units, lead clinical teams and excel in academic or leadership positions.
