Neurocritical Care Fellowship - How to Apply

How to apply to the neurocritical care fellowship at Tufts Medical Center

To apply for the Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center, applicants must participate in the San Francisco Match (SF Match). The program offers one fellowship position per year, providing personalized mentorship, hands-on clinical experience, and exposure to advanced neurocritical care practices.

Applicants should register with SF Match and submit a complete application, including curriculum vitae, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, medical school transcript, USMLE or COMLEX scores, photo, and ECFMG certification if applicable. Select Tufts Medical Center as a program choice, and if invited, attend an interview to discuss your training goals and clinical experience.

Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program

Neurocritical Care Fellowship - Teaching Opportunities

Hands-on teaching + mentorship opportunities in neurocritical care at Tufts Medical Center

Teaching is a core pillar of the fellowship program and an essential component of our mission to develop well-rounded academic neurointensivists. Fellows actively educate a wide range of learners and interdisciplinary team members within Tufts Medical Center and the Tufts University School of Medicine community.

Fellow-led teaching responsibilities include:

  • Medical students: Bedside teaching, procedural instruction, and clinical case discussions during neurology and critical care rotations at Tufts University School of Medicine
  • Neurology residents and residents from internal medicine, emergency medicine and neurosurgery: Direct clinical supervision, rounds, and informal didactic teaching in the Neurosciences Critical Care Unit
  • Nursing staff and advanced practice providers: Interdisciplinary case-based teaching, protocols, and quality and safety initiatives within the NCCU
  • Fellows from other specialties: Pulmonary/critical care and anesthesia fellows rotating through the NCCU gain exposure to neurocritical care management and physiology
  • Departmental education: Contribution to Department of Neurology noon teaching conferences, including Neurocritical Care and Stroke Conferences, with case-based discussions, literature reviews, and updates on emerging evidence for attending neurologists, physician assistants and faculty

Through these teaching opportunities, fellows develop leadership, communication​ and educational skills while reinforcing their own knowledge and supporting the growth of the next generation of clinicians.
