Advanced research opportunities in hematology + oncology fellowship

Fellows are required to identify a research project and research mentor by the end of their first year. The selected mentor serves as the chair of the fellow’s research committee and plays an active role in guiding the fellow’s scholarly development.

Research mentorship is not limited to the Division of Hematology + Oncology. Fellows may pursue research opportunities with faculty across Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University, including:

All fellows are provided with 18 months of protected and funded time for basic, translational or clinical research during the second and third years of fellowship.

Fellows meet regularly with both their mentors and research committees to monitor progress and ensure alignment with academic goals. Scholarly communication is emphasized throughout the program. Fellows are expected to present their work:

  • Within their research group
  • To the Division at the end of the second year
  • At Tufts Medical Center Cancer Center Grand Rounds during their third year

This robust structure supports the development of independent investigators who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of hematology and oncology.
