Tufts Medicine recently celebrated the expansion of its neurology services at 354 Merrimack Street in Lawrence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by physician and hospital leadership. The new services available at Tufts Medicine New England Neurological Associates will improve access to essential treatments and enhance patient care for individuals with various neurological and rheumatological conditions.
The new clinical space offers dedicated treatment bays for medical infusions, addressing the needs of patients with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Botox injections are also now available for the treatment of migraines and spasticity, along with more advanced procedures for diagnostic testing and ultrasound-guided joint injections for interventional pain management.
"We have a long history of community and culture in the diverse communities we serve," said Amy Hoey, President of Lowell General Hospital. "By bringing these critical services closer to home, we provide one-stop services for our neurological patients and make their healthcare more accessible."
Caitlin Rivet, BSN, RN, CENP, Director of Clinical Operations, acknowledges this expansion as a significant milestone, as many patients rely on public transportation and may have mobility issues.
“We are also bringing new services to the area with our Alzheimer’s Therapeutics Program, a newer infusion therapy that can slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease,” says Rivet. “This new space will also help facilitate increased participation in clinical trials and research.”
Robert Miller, MD, Chief of Neurosurgery at Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital emphasized the team’s patient-centered approach has been instrumental in advancing neurological care in the community.
“We are all here for our patients, with the goal to make their lives better. It’s what drives us every day. Tufts Medicine Infusion Care — Lawrence is a significant step forward in achieving that goal."
