Leadership, training excellence + resident success at Tufts Medical Center

Dear prospective residents,

I’m excited to serve as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine. Our general surgery residency program is thriving and internationally recognized for providing exceptional clinical and scientific training in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Our program offers broad clinical education, including surgical critical care, advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as thoracic, colorectal, breast, endocrine and plastic surgery, in addition to solid organ transplantation.

Our residents enjoy weekly protected didactic time, which includes simulation training in a new, state-of-the-art facility. Our board passage rates exceed 90%. We have a flexible research approach and encourage residents to follow their passions as they develop their careers.

Our residents routinely match into some of the most competitive post-residency positions or fellowships, including pediatrics, plastics and minimally invasive surgery.

We are excited to welcome you to our institution, and we know that once you visit, you will find it a remarkable place to train.

Sincerely,
Jason Hall, MD, MPH
Chairman and Surgeon-in-Chief, Department of Surgery, Tufts Medical Center
