Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship Program

Hands-on OBGYN clinical training at Tufts Medical Center

Our clinical training is designed to prepare you for every aspect of obstetrics and gynecology. Each year, you’ll build on your skills through hands-on experience, close faculty support and growing responsibility.

We follow educational objectives outlined by the Residency Review Committee and the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG). These objectives guide your training across every rotation from labor and delivery to surgical subspecialties, so you know exactly what to focus on and how you’re progressing.

You’ll gain real-world experience with a wide range of patients and conditions, including high-risk pregnancies, minimally invasive surgery and complex gynecologic care. Learning happens through a mix of direct patient care, structured didactics, weekly conferences, readings and simulation-based training.

By the end of residency, you’ll be well prepared for fellowship or practice, with the skills, confidence and clinical judgment to lead in any setting.

What’s the training experience like in our OBGYN residency?

Our residents build strong clinical skills across every area of obstetrics and gynecology, with increasing responsibility each year. From day one, you’ll be part of a close-knit team that prioritizes learning, wellness and collaboration.

You’ll rotate through labor and delivery, ambulatory clinics, gynecologic surgery and subspecialty services like reproductive endocrinology, urogynecology and maternal fetal medicine. We care for a diverse population with a high volume of complex cases, which means you’ll gain broad experience in both routine and high-risk care.

Surgical training begins early and includes minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic procedures. We’re a teaching hospital, so you’ll learn side by side with medical students, fellows and attendings who are dedicated to education.

Research is part of every resident’s experience. We provide dedicated time and support to help you design and complete a scholarly project during your training. Many of our residents present their work at regional and national conferences, and some have their research published in peer-reviewed journals.

We also support participation in advocacy, global health and quality improvement. By graduation, our residents are confident, capable and ready for fellowship or independent practice.

Comprehensive training + supportive mentorship in the Tufts Medical Center OBGYN residency program

The Tufts Medical Center OBGYN residency program offers a supportive, hands-on learning environment where residents build strong clinical skills across all areas of obstetrics and gynecology. Our training combines care at a busy academic medical center with valuable experiences at community hospitals, giving residents broad exposure to diverse patients and healthcare settings.

We emphasize evidence-based care, advocacy, innovation and personalized mentorship to help each resident grow professionally and personally. Residents rotate through all major subspecialties and have a dedicated elective time to pursue research, global health or specialized clinical interests.

Wellness + balance

Wellness and work-life balance are core to our program’s culture. We know wellness means something different to everyone, so we work to help each resident find their own balance. Each year, a chief resident serves as Wellness Chief to coordinate monthly group activities that include meditation, exercise and gratitude practices. Residents also participate in ACOG’s wellness week with events like rock climbing, fitness classes and downtime. Our annual 24-hour retreat combines team building with wellness events, and our GME office supports social activities such as a popular summer boat cruise in Boston Harbor to welcome the new academic year.

Our program fosters collaboration, leadership development and community. We are committed to training skilled, compassionate OBGYN physicians who are ready to make a difference in their communities.
