Learn how to apply to the Tufts Medicine Urology Residency Program through our graduate medical education application process.

Application Process

Applications are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and matched through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)

Required application materials include:

  • Completed ERAS application
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Medical school transcript
  • USMLE or COMLEX scores

Selected applicants will be invited to interview with our program team.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Tufts Medicine Urology Residency Program, applicants must:

  • Have graduated from an accredited medical school
  • Meet USMLE or COMLEX score requirements
  • Be eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Interviews

Interviews will be held virtually this Fall 2026 season for AUA Urology Match in February 1, 2027. Our interview dates will be Monday, November 16, 2026, and Monday, November 30, 2026. Invitations to interview will be sent by Friday, October 23, 2026 following the SAU guidelines.

FAQs
How long is the Tufts Medicine Urology Residency Program?

The program is five years in length and is fully ACGME-accredited. Training spans PGY-1 through PGY-5 and culminates in a chief residency year.
Is the program ACGME-accredited?

Yes. The Tufts Medicine Urology Residency Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
What subspecialties will I be trained in?

Residents gain comprehensive exposure across General Urology, Urologic Oncology, Endourology and Stone Disease, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Pediatric Urology, Male Infertility and Andrology and Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery.
What does the PGY-1 year look like?

PGY-1 is focused on building a strong surgical and clinical foundation that develops the core competencies underlying all of urologic practice. Residents begin gaining exposure to urologic cases while building the technical and clinical skills required for advanced training in later years.
Which hospitals will I rotate through?

Residents train at Tufts Medical Center (primary site), Lowell General Hospital, MelroseWakefield Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital for pediatric urology.
What is the call schedule like?

Call responsibilities are structured to support clinical learning while promoting resident wellbeing. Schedules are designed to comply with ACGME duty hour requirements and are balanced across training sites.
Are there research opportunities during residency?

Yes. Research is a core component of training at Tufts Medicine. Residents have access to faculty-mentored clinical, translational and outcomes-based research projects, with support for abstract submission, manuscript development and presentation at national meetings including the AUA Annual Meeting.
Is there a wellness or resident support program?

Yes. Tufts Medicine’s GME office provides residents with resources and programming designed to support wellbeing both inside and outside training, including community events, peer connection opportunities and access to wellness resources throughout the health system.
When are interviews typically held?

Interviews are scheduled following ERAS application review each fall. Selected applicants will be contacted directly by our program coordinator.
Can I do away rotations at Tufts Medicine as a visiting resident?

Visiting residents interested in rotating through the program should contact our program coordinator directly for information on eligibility and availability.
What is life like as a resident in Boston?

Tufts Medical Center is located in downtown Boston, with access to the city’s neighborhoods, cultural institutions and academic centers. Boston also offers a broad medical and research community that supports learning and professional development during residency.
