Urology Residency Program at Tufts Medical Center

The Urology Residency Program at Tufts Medical Center is a five-year, ACGME-accredited training program in adult and pediatric urology located in the heart of Boston. As the principal teaching hospital for Tufts University School of Medicine, Tufts Medical Center provides a collaborative academic environment where clinical excellence, research and compassionate patient care come together to shape the next generation of urologists.

Through progressive clinical responsibility, broad subspecialty exposure and dedicated mentorship, residents develop the skills needed for academic medicine, community practice and subspecialty fellowship training.

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate and train outstanding urologists who provide exceptional patient care, advance the field through research and innovation and serve their communities with professionalism, compassion and integrity.

What Sets Us Apart

Tufts Medicine's urology residency offers the depth of an academic medical center within a close-knit training environment.

  • Integrated academic + community training. Rotate through Tufts Medical Center and affiliated hospitals, gaining experience across a full range of practice settings and patient populations.
  • Graduated surgical responsibility. Each year of training builds on the last, from foundational skills in PGY-1 to complex case leadership as a chief resident in PGY-5.
  • Broad subspecialty exposure. Gain hands-on experience across all major areas of urology, including robotic surgery, urologic oncology, reconstructive urology, pediatric urology and more.
  • Strong mentorship culture. Work alongside accessible, experienced faculty who are committed to your development as a surgeon, clinician, educator and leader.
  • Robust research infrastructure. A dedicated research program with faculty mentorship, scholarly support and regular representation at national meetings, including the AUA Annual Meeting.
  • Boston as your training setting. Boston provides broad clinical exposure, academic collaboration and access to a large medical community.
