High Pointe House Receives $5,000 Grant for Therapeutic Healing Garden

October 28, 2025

High Pointe House has received a generous $5,000 grant from the Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union to establish a therapeutic healing garden on our grounds in Haverhill, Mass.

High Pointe House Garden

This native species garden will serve as a vital sanctuary for our hospice patients, their families and our dedicated staff. Research shows that exposure to nature reduces anxiety, decreases pain perception and promotes emotional regulation. For families navigating grief and stress, the garden will provide a tranquil space for reflection and healing.

The garden will feature indigenous plants that honor the Penacook peoples who historically inhabited the Merrimack Valley. Carefully selected native plants like inkberry holly, red-twigged dogwoods and witch-hazel will provide year-round beauty and therapeutic benefit while creating rich habitat for pollinators and wildlife with minimal maintenance.

Serving patients from more than 50 communities throughout northeastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, High Pointe House provides compassionate, holistic care in a serene, wooded setting. This healing garden represents another step forward in supporting the whole person during life’s most profound transition.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union for making this therapeutic garden possible.

The Power of Play: Providing Children Comfort + Connection

Tufts Medicine Care at Home delivers complex medical care to patients of all ages in the comfort of their homes. While home-based care can ease anxiety and improve quality of life, it can also be isolating— especially for children facing serious diagnoses. Many pediatric patients can’t attend school or interact with peers, leaving them disconnected during an already difficult time.
