WELLS is a six-item scale and each correct response was awarded one point. Scores are assigned from zero to six, with one point for each correct answer. Higher scores relate to higher health literacy. -Low (score of 0–2) -Medium (score of 3 or 4) -High (score of 4 or 6)

Content validity:
The WELLS scale was developed using guidelines from DeVellis. Content validity was assessed through scale adaptation from the NVS and from expert reviews.
Criterion validity:
The mean difference between the scores NVS and WELLS scales was 0.012 (SD = 1.16) and the 95% lower (−1.15) and upper (1.18) limits of agreement.The two health literacy scales reported a moderate, but significant correlation with each other (ρ = 0.47, p < 0.001).
