About the Validation of this Measure
Country where validated:
Turkey
Content validity:
Two native Turkish speakers translated the original English REALD-30 into Turkish. The two versions were then synthesized and back translated to ensure cultural equivalence. Next, an expert committee of biostatisticians, oral health professionals, linguists, and translators developed a "pre-final" version, which was then pilot-tested among a convenience sample of 35 adult dental patients.
Criterion validity:
Positive correlation between TREALD-30 and REALM (r=0.73, p<0.01) as well as two single item literacy screeners (r=0.69, p<0.01 for reading ability of hospital materials; r=0.59, p<0.01 for perceived confidence in completing medical forms).
Reliability (Cronbach Alpha):
0.91
