Consists of the First Impressions activity and Walking Interview. First Impressions is used to capture first impressions of an organization through the eyes of service users and is split into three parts - (1) Calling the facility’s main telephone number to get directions, (2) Visiting the facility’s website to get directions, and (3) walking to the main entrance from the parking lot or a public transportation stop. The Walking Interview creates dialogue between a Guide (someone familiar with the facility) and Observer (someone newer to the facility). The Guide directs the Observer and asks questions about their experience as they go. There are 6 stages to the Walking Interview, including Observations at the entry point or lobby, Directions/seeking help, Navigation, Observation, Reflections, and Feedback. This step takes about 1 hour.
