About the Validation of this Measure

Country where validated: Hong Kong
Content validity: The draft version of the tool was developed according to the domains of functional literacy, factual and procedural knowledge, and awareness. Questions were developed based upon dietary practices of the Chinese population living in Hong Kong and covered eight broad areas. The scale was reviewed by a panel of eight healthcare professionals who rated the relevance of each item on a 4-point Likert scale. The item-level Content Validity Index was calculated as the proportion of 3 or above ratings by the panelists, and an item-level CVI of .78 or above was considered acceptable. An adjusted draft version with 54 items was developed and piloted with a sample of 17 elderly adults.
Reliability (Cronbach Alpha): 0.799
