Intraclass Correlation Coefficients (ICCs) for Access to Care ranged from 0.07 to 0.11, with an average of 0.08. ICCs for Doctor Communication and Courteous/Helpful Staff ranged from 0.01 to 0.05, with an average of 0.02. Individual level (internal consistency) reliability estimates ranged from 0.77 to 0.89. For sites with one clinician, practice site reliability estimates ranged from 0.40 to above 0.70. For sites with 2-3 clinicians, practice site reliability estimates ranged from 0.58 to above 0.70. Practice site reliability was above 0.70 for all sites with at least four clinicians. Individual-level Cronbach's alpha is 0.77, 0.89, and 0.85 for the Access to Care, Doctor Communication, and Courteous/Helpful Staff composites, respectively.
Additional Notes: The three composites, making up 13 of the items, include Access to Care (5 items), Doctor Communication (6 items), and Courteous/Helpful Staff (2 items). The two global rating items are whether one would Recommend their Doctor, and Overall Doctor Rating. The newest version of the CG-CAHPS Visit Survey (4.0) is linked below. It has a beta designation, meaning it has not yet been field tested by the CHAPS Consortium or approved as a CAHPS survey.
