Description

The CAAASI-Dem-INA is a 24 item instrument designed to assess dementia literacy, specifically evaluating an individual's self perceived capacity to obtain, evaluate, and utilize dementia related information and services. It comprises five factors such as, evaluation and engagement, readiness, social supports, specific dementia services, and practical aspects.

About the Validation of this Measure
Country where validated: Indonesia
Content validity: The instrument was translated using forward and back translation by bilingual professionals and linguistic experts. It was then pretested and evaluated by a representative sample of 30 older adults to ensure the items were intelligible and culturally/contextually appropriate for the Indonesian population.
Criterion validity: Convergent validity was supported by moderate, significant positive correlations with the Dementia Knowledge Assessment Scale Indonesian version (DKAS-INA) (r=.423) and the Dementia Attitude Scale Indonesian version (DAS-INA) (r=.422) at p<.001.
