Become a leader in neonatal-perinatal medicine through hands-on neonatal-perinatal fellowship training in Boston

At Tufts Medical Center, our Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship helps doctors become strong leaders in newborn care. Over three years, fellows build the skills they need to care for critically ill newborns, teach others, and lead research that improves outcomes for babies and families.

Our fellows are the main doctors caring for newborns in our Level III NICU and on our transport team. They work closely with nurses, surgeons, and other specialists to care for babies with complex medical needs. Fellows also follow babies through surgery and ongoing care across our network of hospitals.

Teaching is a big part of what we do. Fellows help train medical students and residents through lectures, bedside teaching, and daily discussions with the care team. As the main teaching hospital for Tufts University School of Medicine, we offer lots of ways for fellows to grow as teachers and mentors.

We support our fellows by offering:

  • Hands-on experience with high-risk, high-acuity newborns
  • Mentorship and support from experienced faculty
  • Opportunities to lead research in clinical care, education, or quality improvement
  • A strong teaching role in our academic medical center
  • A mix of daily learning, formal education, and simulation training

Whether you’re focused on clinical care, research or teaching, our fellowship gives you the experience and support to succeed.

Train at the forefront of infectious disease care at Tufts Medical Center in Boston

Located in the heart of downtown Boston and affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine, our fellowship offers rigorous academic training in a dynamic urban setting. Fellows gain comprehensive clinical and research experience across three major hospitals, working closely with a diverse team of over 40 attending physicians.

At Tufts Medical Center, our infectious diseases fellowship delivers the hands-on experience, deep academic training and personalized support you need to launch a successful career in infectious diseases. You’ll work with nationally recognized experts, care for diverse populations and explore emerging fields like antimicrobial stewardship, transplant infectious diseases and global health.

We offer two distinct training paths designed to support different career goals:

  • Clinician educator track: A traditional two-year program focused on clinical training and teaching. Most fellows choose this path as preparation for careers in academic medicine, hospital-based practice or public health.
  • Investigator track: A three-year program that includes earning a master’s degree in public health or science. Fellows in this track receive additional mentorship and research training to prepare for careers as physician-scientists.

Graduates of our program go on to a wide range of rewarding careers. Many become academic clinician-educators or physician-scientists, while others enter public health, industry or private practice.

Program highlights:

  • Extensive inpatient and outpatient training across a wide range of infectious diseases
  • Dedicated subspecialty experiences in HIV, transplant infectious diseases, infection prevention and more
  • Minimum of six months protected research time, with opportunities to publish and present
  • Optional third year for advanced research or focused clinical training
  • Supportive faculty, dynamic clinical settings and a collaborative learning culture

You’ll graduate from our program with the clinical experience, research foundation and professional network to take the next step with confidence—whether you’re pursuing a career in academic medicine, public health or advanced clinical care. Shape your vascular surgery career at Tufts Medical Center in Boston

The Tufts Medicine Vascular Surgery Fellowship is a two-year, ACGME-accredited program for surgeons who have completed a general surgery residency. Established in 1984, it is one of the original vascular fellowships in the U.S. and continues to prepare surgeons for certification and successful careers in both academic and community practice.

The fellowship offers broad, hands-on training across the full spectrum of vascular care. In the first year fellows focus on noninvasive vascular testing and interventional radiology, building a strong foundation for credentialing exams. The second year shifts toward advanced operative experience, inpatient and outpatient management and the care of vascular emergencies.

The program follows a closed faculty model, meaning all vascular surgeons are full-time faculty and fellows are fully integrated into patient care from day one. Graduates complete 800–900 open and endovascular procedures, ensuring a wide range of experience. Along with clinical training, fellows participate in academic development through research, conferences and teaching opportunities.

Program highlights:

  • 2-year fellowship accredited by the ACGME
  • First year focused on noninvasive diagnostics and interventional radiology
  • Second year focused on advanced operative training and vascular emergencies
  • Closed faculty model with full integration into vascular services
