How to apply to the Tufts Medical Center OBGYN residency program
We are excited to share information about the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Tufts Medical Center. Our program offers comprehensive training in a supportive academic environment dedicated to developing skilled, compassionate OBGYN physicians who serve diverse communities and advance reproductive health.
Categorical track: A four-year program spanning internship through chief residency. This track is open to both U.S. medical graduates and international medical graduates (IMGs).
Minimum requirements
- Application process: All applications must be submitted through ResidencyCAS. Applications sent outside of ERAS cannot be accepted.
- International medical graduates: All foreign medical graduates must apply through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), which processes applications through ERAS. Tufts Medical Center sponsors only J-1 visas and does not sponsor H-1B visas.
- Medical school education: Applicants must be graduates of an American Medical Association-approved and Massachusetts BORIM-approved medical school, within five years of graduation. Please reach out if you have questions about eligibility.
- USMLE: There is no minimum required score. Applicants must have passed Step 1 at the time of application and must complete Step 2 CK before starting residency to meet licensure requirements.
- Letters of recommendation: At least three letters are required. One must come from a faculty member in an Obstetrics and Gynecology department. A chair’s letter is strongly recommended.
- NRMP registration: Applicants must be registered with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) by the match deadline to be eligible.
Interview process
Interviews for the categorical track are typically held virtually between November and December using the ResidencyCAS platform. Invitations are sent through ResidenctCAS following established guidelines. Specific interview dates will be shared with selected applicants.
