Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program

Apply to our ACGME-accredited sleep medicine fellowship in Massachusetts

We offer one sleep medicine fellowship position each year. Our multidisciplinary program combines expertise from pulmonary medicine, neurology, pediatric neurology and otolaryngology, adult otolaryngology, dentistry and behavioral sleep medicine. Fellows gain experience in general and complex sleep apnea, including a robust hypoglossal nerve stimulator program, as well as cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Most training takes place at Tufts Medical Center and the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.

Applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in anesthesiology, family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, otolaryngology, pediatrics or psychiatry. Fellows are expected to sit for the board exam in their primary specialty before or during the fellowship year.

Multidisciplinary training

Fellows engage in research on key topics like sleep in the ICU, sleep quality during noninvasive ventilation, and how sleep-disordered breathing affects pulmonary hypertension. These projects cover clinical and pathophysiologic aspects of sleep disorders. With strong mentorship and resources, fellows contribute to advancing sleep medicine and improving patient care.

Fellows take part in regular educational sessions to deepen their knowledge and clinical skills in sleep medicine. Weekly lectures cover key topics in adult and pediatric sleep disorders, while monthly case discussions provide hands-on experience reviewing real cases. These sessions support clinical growth and prepare fellows for advanced practice in the field.

The fellowship provides training across multiple specialties like pulmonary, neurology, pediatrics, otolaryngology, psychiatry and dentistry. This approach gives fellows broad exposure to sleep disorders in adults and children and helps them learn how these conditions connect with different fields for expert care.
