ICU rotation schedule for the anesthesiology critical care fellowship

Fellows complete their clinical training primarily at Tufts Medical Center, a 415-bed academic hospital in downtown Boston that delivers everything from routine care to highly complex, specialized treatments.

  • Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) – 2 months
  • Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) – 2 months
  • Medical ICU (MICU) – 1 month
  • Surgical ICU (SICU) – 1 month
  • Neurocritical Care Unit (NCCU) – 1 month
  • Palliative Care – 1 month
  • Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) – 1 month
  • Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) – 2 weeks
  • Boston MedFlight (optional) – 2 weeks
  • Electives – 2 months

Electives allow fellows to explore specialties like cardiology, pulmonology, radiology, infectious disease, research and more. This flexible structure lets you customize your fellowship experience to match your interests and career goals while deepening your expertise in specific areas of critical care.
