Residency program mission statement

Tufts Internal Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to training and developing well-rounded, patient-centered, highly skilled physicians and problem solvers who will serve society as clinicians, educators, researchers, and leaders. Our residents acquire these skills through rigorous training and caring for complex patients in a collegial, close-knit, and supportive community that values camaraderie, teamwork, and friendship. We support the development of our trainees through supervised autonomy and longitudinal mentoring, fostering a growth mindset. Located in the heart of Boston’s Chinatown, Tufts Medical Center is a moderately sized quaternary care academic hospital serving a diverse patient population. This includes both medically complex patients and a large, underserved population, with many Asian immigrants due to our location in Chinatown. Our training program values diversity, equity, and inclusion, integrating these ideals into all aspects of training and patient care.
