Residency program mission statement

The Tufts Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to training well-rounded, patient-centered and highly skilled physicians and problem solvers who will serve society as clinicians, educators, researchers and leaders. Our residents develop these skills through rigorous clinical training and caring for complex patients in a collegial, close-knit and supportive environment that values camaraderie, teamwork and friendship. We support the development of our trainees through supervised autonomy and longitudinal mentorship, fostering a growth mindset. Located in the heart of Boston’s Chinatown, Tufts Medical Center is a moderately sized, quaternary care academic hospital serving a diverse patient population. This includes both medically complex patients and a large, underserved population, with many Asian immigrants due to our location in Chinatown.
