Infectious Diseases Fellowship – Mentorship + Development

Mentorship + Development

Infectious diseases fellowship mentorship that supports your goals

Our mentorship program has been recognized as exemplary by the Infectious Diseases Society of America. We believe individualized, thoughtful mentorship is key to helping fellows achieve their career goals.

Mentoring is provided by experienced faculty, including David Snydman, MD, FACP, FIDSA, who recently received the prestigious Walter E. Stamm Mentor Award for his outstanding commitment to mentoring in the field.

At Tufts Medical Center, mentorship is a team effort. From the beginning of the fellowship, each fellow is paired with a clinic preceptor who works closely with them throughout both years of training. During the first research month, fellows explore their interests and identify a mentor to guide their research.

Fellows then build a personalized mentorship committee—made up of faculty who support their academic and professional growth. The committee meets regularly to make sure:

  • Research is progressing on track
  • The fellow has the resources and support they need
  • Clinical experiences align with long-term goals
  • Additional training is available if needed
  • Fellows get guidance on writing, publishing and presenting their work
  • Career planning, including job searches and grant writing, is supported

Our program has successfully mentored fellows into K-award recipients, hospital leadership roles, academic faculty positions and thriving careers as expert clinicians. At Tufts Medical Center, we take mentorship seriously—because your success is our priority.
