Novice Nurse Program

The Novice Nurse Training Program at Tufts Medical Center is designed to support newly licensed nurses as they begin their professional careers within a busy academic medical center.

This comprehensive program builds upon the solid foundation established in a BSN program by providing participants with the resources they need to strengthen and expand their skills.

Nurses are hired for a specific floor or unit and receive support from their leadership team, colleagues and dedicated preceptors from that floor or unit. In addition, nurses participate in one classroom day per week, where they have the opportunity to interact with members of the interdisciplinary team and learn from subject matter experts across specialties and disciplines throughout the organization.

Department participation varies by session and may include adult medical/surgical, cardiomyopathy, adult critical care, cardiothoracic care, coronary care, medical intensive care, medical surgical intensive care, neuroscience critical care, surgical intensive care, neonatal intensive care, mother infant care, emergency care, perinatal care, hematology and oncology.
