Open 24/7, the Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital Emergency Department + Trauma Center at Lowell General Hospital’s main campus provides fast, expert care for emergencies of all types. As a Level III Trauma Center, our board-certified emergency physicians and skilled care team treat children, adults and seniors for everything from broken bones and serious infections to major trauma.

When you arrive at the Lowell General Hospital main campus on 295 Varnum Avenue, you will see signs for different buildings and entrances. To find the Emergency Department, look for and follow the large, red "Emergency" signs. These signs will direct you away from the main hospital lobby to our dedicated, 24/7 emergency entrance. This entrance is covered by a large awning and has its own separate patient drop-off area and dedicated parking lot for emergency use.

For cardiac emergencies, the department is directly connected to the on-site cardiac catheterization laboratory. This gives you immediate access to cardiac specialists around the clock, which is critical for limiting heart damage.
