Tufts Medical Center Radiation Oncology Department Earns Prestigious APEx Accreditation

October 8, 2025

Tufts Medicine is honored to announce that Tufts Medical Center’s Radiation Oncology Department has received The American Society for Radiation Oncology’s (ASTRO) APEx – Accreditation Program for Excellence®. We are proud to be one of only three radiation oncology programs in Massachusetts with this prestigious designation.

Radiation Oncology earns ASTRO APEx

APEx is a nationally recognized accreditation developed by radiation oncology professionals to honor radiation oncology programs that uphold the highest level of safety and quality. With this accreditation, Tufts Medical Center joins a distinguished group of healthcare facilities that have demonstrated excellence in patient care, peer review, documentation, quality assurance and more.

“Earning ASTRO’s APEx accreditation is a proud milestone for our department and a meaningful recognition of the dedication our team brings to patient care every day,” said Matthew S. Katz, MD, FASTRO, Interim Chair, Radiation Oncology at Tufts Medical Center. “This accreditation reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based and high-quality radiation therapy. It also provides our patients, families and caregivers with the confidence that they are receiving care that meets the highest national standards."
