Sun Santa Themed Basket Raffle Raises $90K

December 10, 2020

No one would have been surprised if this year’s Lowell General Hospital Sun Santa Themed Basket Raffle fell a little short of expectations. After all, the baskets could not be viewed in person and the annual festive drawing was done without an audience.

Instead, members of the community bought more tickets than ever before, raising $90,000 for The Sun Santa Fund, which works with the Salvation Army and Community Teamwork, Inc., each year to help families in need during the holidays.

“Our community never fails to come through to help others, even under the most challenging circumstances,” said Jody White, President and CEO of Lowell General and Circle Health. “From the staff members who put together these incredible baskets to the members of the public who bought tickets, everyone saw the need this year and stepped up to help.”

This year’s raffle featured 27 baskets ranging in price from $300 to $1,500 and included getaways, technology, cash, raffle tickets and much more. Each basket is put together by members of various departments across the hospital.
