2023 Shields Healthcare TeamWalk Sponsor

Shields and Lowell General have worked closely together for more than a decade. Shields supplies all of our hospital’s imaging services, and recently worked with our hospital and surgeons to open the state-of-the-art Surgery Center of the Merrimack Valley in Lowell’s Drum Hill neighborhood.

“We are proud to once again team up with Lowell General and support cancer patients across the Merrimack Valley,” said Peter Ferrari, President of Shields Health. “Our organizations share a patients-first approach to everything we do, and that’s what has made this partnership work so well.”

On Sunday, May 21, TeamWalk will return to the Tsongas Center for the 24th annual event, which brings together thousands of people from across the region in the spirit of support for those still with us and in honor for those we’ve lost to this disease.

“We are grateful for this latest opportunity to partner with Peter Ferrari’s team at Shields and their work to make patients’ lives better every day,” said Lowell General CEO Jody White. “Our organizations have achieved great things together, and I’m excited to have them join with us in this important cause.”

Each year, TeamWalk raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer patients in need, supporting them with grants that provide transportation to treatment, pay for a prescription or co-pay, supply a patient with a wig or other needs to help patients focus on their treatment and recovery.

TeamWalk for CancerCare began in 2000 and has grown to become the Merrimack Valley’s largest single-day fundraiser, in addition to several outside fundraisers organized year-round by its loyal supporters.

Together, the community has raised more than $15 million dollars to support cancer patients undergoing treatment or in recovery.
