Boston, MA – Thousands of individuals and families will gain access to diapers, hygiene products and other resources thanks to the support of over 400 guests at the Lowell General Hospital Ball for Community Health Initiatives, held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the InterContinental Hotel in Boston.

The event brought together Lowell General’s leadership, physicians and staff with community leaders in healthcare, business, education and social services from across the Merrimack Valley. Together, they raised $52,250 for The Wish Project.

The Wish Project was chosen as this year’s Fund a Need recipient because of its tenet that only when people have their basic needs met can they move forward out of the social services system. Providing basic goods to people in crisis will help alleviate some stress in the short term while helping to end homelessness in the long term.

“The Wish Project is a powerful resource in our community and represents hope for low-income families and those facing housing instability,” Tufts Medicine Lowell General president Amy Hoey said. “The resources raised from this event will help provide diapers and other essential items for families in need in our community.”

The Wish Project’s mission is to help families in need establish long-term residency by providing basic needs to provide critical immediate assistance to homeless families, victims of fire or disaster and to support the community.

The Lowell General Hospital Ball for Community Health Initiatives was established in 2006 by Lowell General Hospital, its dedicated medical staff and concerned members of the community.

Co-chairs for this year’s event were Drs. Miret Ibrahim and Allen Hwang. Thank you to event sponsors, including diamond sponsors Huron Consulting Group, Navvis, and Alvarez & Marshal, sapphire sponsors Enterprise Bank, Merrimack Valley Emergency Associates, Remedium Pharmacy and BlueCross Blue Shield, and emerald sponsors Shields Health and the Demoulas Foundation.
