Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts Elects Home Health Foundation President + CEO Karen Gomes as Vice President of Board of Directors

November 27, 2020

Lawrence, Mass. – Home Health Foundation President and CEO Karen Gomes, RN, MS, CPHQ has been elected as vice president of the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts Board of Directors.

Founded in 1969, the Boston-based Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts is a non-profit trade association of home care agencies that promotes home care as an integral part of the health care delivery system.

“I am so grateful when busy industry leaders step up to serve on our board to support the entire home care community,” said Pat Kelleher, executive director of the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts. “Karen’s experience and expertise will be most welcome around our board table as we navigate these most challenging times in home care.”

“I’m excited and grateful to contribute to the organization’s mission of advancing community health through care and services in the home,” Gomes said. “Through my training and experience as a nurse, I have a deep appreciation and respect for the importance of delivering high-touch care safely with compassion, while integrating telehealth and other innovative advancements as technology evolves.”

In her leadership role at Home Health Foundation, a Lawrence-based nonprofit organization celebrating its 125th anniversary, Gomes oversees a staff of expert healthcare professionals who deliver the highest quality care in all the places patients call home. Yet her most impactful accomplishment has been behind the scenes, as the driving force behind Home Health Foundation becoming a member of Wellforce Health System in 2018.

In fact, Gomes envisioned the partnership with Wellforce through her passion for home health care, understanding of industry issues and proficiency in data analysis. After inspiring the Home Health Foundation Board of Directors to adopt the strategic focus of growing home care to fit patients’ future needs, she led the internal partnership transition while ensuring a continuous focus on providing quality of care.

Gomes said she is looking forward to extending the collaboration for which she is known to Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts.

“By ensuring the availability of essential resources,” Gomes said, “home care agencies across the state can then provide superior care to the community.”
