Lactation Support at MelroseWakefield Hospital

MelroseWakefield Hospital offers lactation support to help you feel confident feeding your baby. Whether you’re looking for community support or more personal help, our lactation team is here for you. Whether you are pregnant and planning to breastfeed or your baby has already arrived and you’re already breastfeeding, we’re here for you. We provide a full range of support — from during pregnancy to birth and your time in the hospital, to personalized outpatient support and community support after you go home with your baby.

MelroseWakefield Hospital is part of the International Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative to support all new parents in meeting their breastfeeding goals. The Baby-Friendly standards are built on the “Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding,” a set of evidence-based practices recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for optimal infant feeding support in the first days of a newborn’s life.
