Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program

Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship - Research + Teaching Opportunities

Research + Teaching Opportunities

Advancing research + teaching skills in anesthesiology critical care

Our fellowship not only focuses on clinical excellence but also fosters scholarly growth and teaching skills. Fellows have opportunities to engage in meaningful research projects and develop as educators, preparing them for leadership roles in academic anesthesiology and critical care.

Research opportunities + scholarly projects in anesthesiology critical care

Our division is committed to developing exceptional clinicians and leaders in academic anesthesiology. While there is no strict research requirement, fellows are encouraged to engage in at least one scholarly project each year. This may include clinical or basic science research during elective rotations or scholarly work such as review articles, book chapters and case reports. Fellows work closely with faculty mentors to explore their research interests and contribute meaningfully to the field of critical care medicine.

Teaching + clinical instruction opportunities for critical care fellows

Tufts Medical Center, one of Boston’s largest teaching hospitals, provides a rich educational environment that spans routine care to complex surgeries and life-saving interventions. Fellows play a vital role in supervising and teaching residents, medical students and sometimes SRNAs, dedicating about 25 to 30 percent of their time to clinical instruction.

To prepare fellows as future educators and leaders, the program offers individualized mentorship, teaching workshops and structured feedback sessions. This comprehensive support equips graduates to excel both as expert clinicians and effective teachers in critical care.
