Lifestyle Intervention in Preparing for Pregnancy (LIPP)

The goal of the LIPP study is to help improve a mother’s overall health for future pregnancies, and you can help us obtain this information. Your part in the LIPP study will help us better understand how lifestyle intervention, such as healthy eating and increased physical activity, will improve your health for future pregnancies and improve your baby’s health over time.

Conducted by Tufts Medical Center and the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, this study is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and is completely voluntary. Your participation could improve not only your own health and future health of your children, but the health of millions to come.

To learn more or to join our study, please contact Dr. Patrick Catalano or the LIPP Research Coordinator Li Yin Cheok at 617.636.9197.

What does the study involve?

Participants will be randomly split into two groups. Every participant will have scheduled visits done at Tufts Medical Center and HNRCA, at an interval to be determined. In one group, participants will be advised on how to practice a healthy lifestyle. In another group, they will meet with a lifestyle coach and regularly attend sessions designed to improve lifestyle choices such as diet and exercise.

Will I benefit from this study?
