CatWalk for CancerCare Raises $140K for Cancer Patients

More than 600 guests gathered for a night of fun, fashion and fundraising at CatWalk for CancerCare on Saturday, April 1, at the Burlington Marriott Hotel.

Attendees raised more than $140,000 for Lowell General Hospital’s TeamWalk for CancerCare, which provides grants and funding to support Merrimack Valley cancer patients in need.

The event, held for the first time in three years due to the pandemic, was once again organized hosted by Robert and Andrew Skirvin-Orr, owners of Exhale Hair Studio in North Chelmsford and residents of Nashua, N.H. Robert Skirvin-Orr is a longtime volunteer at the wig boutique inside Lowell General Hospital’s Cancer Center.

The night included a runway fashion show featuring local models, tributes to cancer victims and survivors, a silent auction and superhero tribute to everyday heroes in the fight against cancer.

“Our Cancer Center turns 25 this year, and it’s incredible to see the way this community continues to come together to care for cancer patients,” said Amy Hoey, President of Lowell General Hospital. “Robert and Andrew Skirvin-Orr exemplify the kind of everyday heroes that go the extra mile to care for neighbors in need.”

Events like CatWalkfor CancerCare have turned TeamWalk, the largest one-day fundraiser in the Merrimack Valley, into a year-long fundraising effort that includes an array of fun events organized by supporters.

About TeamWalk for CancerCare

Since its inception in 2000, TeamWalk has raised more than $15 million and helped more than 38,000 patients. TeamWalk (teamwalk.org) funds make a difference in the lives of today’s cancer patients by paying for medications, nutritional supplements, wigs and prostheses, support groups, skilled nursing visits, transportation, mini-grants and supportive services to patients of all cancer types. Funds raised enable Lowell General Hospital to provide assistance, support and services to help people feel better, build confidence and instill hope throughout their battle with cancer.
